Our Story

About Gathered

Gathered was created from a love of handmade goods, small businesses, and the beautiful stories behind them.

Located in the heart of Rockwall, Gathered is a place to slow down, look around, and discover something special. From handmade treasures and local food to thoughtfully created goods for your home, your family, and yourself, every corner of our store is filled with something worth finding.

But Gathered is about more than what is on the shelves. It is about the people behind it all. The makers, bakers, artists, growers, and small business owners who pour their time, talent, and heart into what they create. We are proud to bring their work together under one roof and give our customers a place to shop small, shop local, and connect with the people who make Rockwall special.

At the heart of Gathered is our faith. We believe every good and perfect gift comes from above, and we are grateful for the opportunity to use this space to serve others, support local businesses, and create a place where people feel welcomed.

“Every good and perfect gift is from above.”
James 1:17

We are so glad you are here.

Come wander. Come discover. Come GATHERED.

Rooted in Faith

Gathered is built on the belief that what we have is a gift, and what we do with it matters.

We are grateful for every maker, every customer, every conversation, and every opportunity to serve our community. Our hope is that Gathered is more than a place to shop. We hope it is a place where people feel welcomed, encouraged, and reminded of the goodness around them.

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord.”
Colossians 3:23

Two Bakers. One Shared Vision.

Community over competition. It’s more than a motto for us. It’s the very foundation Gathered was built on.

We’re Gen and Aubry. We’re both children of God, wives, moms, and sourdough bakers. Gen is the face behind Uprooted Journey Sourdough, originally from South Africa and now proudly calling Texas home. Aubry is the baker behind Crumble & Rise Sourdough, originally from Stillwater, Oklahoma, and now rooted here in Texas, too.

Our stories are different, but we share a heart for our families, our faith, and the small businesses we’ve worked so hard to build.

As two sourdough bakers, we could have looked at one another as competition. We could have guarded our own corners, focused on our own growth, and treated the other’s success as our own loss.

Instead, we chose a different path.

We chose to see each other’s strengths. We chose to encourage one another, share ideas, and recognize that there is room for both of us to grow. We discovered that when we work together rather than against each other, we can create something far greater than either of us could alone.

And that was the beginning of Gathered.

What started with two bakers choosing community over competition grew into a vision for a place where other small businesses could experience that same spirit. A place where local makers, creatives, and entrepreneurs could come together, share their gifts, and grow alongside one another.

Because we know the people behind the products. We know the long hours, the sacrifices, the prayers, the families cheering us on, and the courage it takes to turn an idea into a business. We know that every small business represents someone’s dream, and we believe those dreams deserve a place to grow.

Our faith reminds us that we were never meant to do everything alone. There is beauty in using our gifts together, lifting one another up, and celebrating the success of the people around us.

That’s what we want Gathered to be. More than a store, it’s a community. A place where businesses support businesses, neighbors discover local talent, and everyone has the opportunity to be part of something bigger.

We’re two women, two families, and two bakeries who chose to build together. And now, we’re inviting you to be part of what we’re building, too.

Gathered. Rooted in community. Built on collaboration. Always community over competition.
